In nature spiders have been weaving their distinctive webs eons before we had the electronic web known as the Internet. Since ancient times the spider and its web are featured in mythological stories and fables, cosmology, and artistic spiritual depictions throughout the world.

My encounters with children in nature aim to stimulate their curiosity by bringing attention to the spider and its amazing web, without having to explain everything on the spot. Looking closely at the world of the spider and its web creates a metaphor which can enlighten us about ourselves, i.e. the spider's simple life compared to our complex consumerism. It is often across contrasts that we can better understand things, discover who we are. Art makes us think, imagine, and dream. One can find oneself in art.
